I was just curious, with electric powered motorcycles why there isnt more science fiction looking motorcycle builds...

Im a bit of a fabricator and im looking for a unique motorcycle to build, something way out there but usable...

anyone have any cool ideals they would like to share...

I kinda like the white (vintage) LightCycle from Tron 2.0. Could be done as a 3 wheeler if the front end was widened.

And the terminator bikes too, from the last movie.

There's some Akira motorcycles, and Batmobile motorcycles that have been built, but seem a bit hard to ride.

Back to the future Hill Valley motorcycle:

im a big fan of the tron bike - cool photos Frodus... after drag racing summer is over, all components will be shifted to a street bike daily rider - i entend to build something similar to one of these...

i do like the enclosed canopy of the tron bike...

And there's this:
The "real" Tron cycle. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1339119/The-real-Tron-Lightcycle-hit-120mph-costs-55-000.html)

I belive that they welded two 320 rims together and added some heavy duty bearings..

While we're at the "real bikes"
There's the EV-X7, which is inspired by the feet forward approach of the Akira bike.

Aaaand the many many many Akira bikes that have been built: http://negatendo.net/kmc/en_frame.htm

As well as the batman bike: http://gadgetsin.com/batman-batpod-custom-motorcycle-on-the-road.htm

It was the Parker Brothers Choppers that made the BatPod cycle.

That chopper looks B.A.
A rigid tail bike with a Enertrac DU-602 motor would be sweet.

I saw this bike yesterday at the Dream Machines show at the Half Moon Bay Airport. Not electric, but it is different if you are in to Batman stuff.

And then someone showed up with this other monster, which I could have done without.

There was a small EV display at the show, but it was kind of lame and no motorcycles were exhibited.

Way too many IC cars for me at the show. There must have been hundreds of cars on display and thousands of cars parked on the grounds.

The Ferrari design's been done: http://evalbum.com/3713

And let us not forget the Turbocycles...1103

the best part of the Turbocycles is that they could fly too... now that would be something during a traffic jam...

the best parts of these images of scifi cycles is, i do intend to build one. it will be this winters project. im also a 3D object builder - so any design i come up with from bits and pieces of these images will be displayed in my 3D renderings... scaled for the plotter to paper and from paper to reality...

this is the same method used to build my projects as the example of the bicycle i built as the photos indicate

the best thing i can tell you is the tools, the tools are the primary building block - im very fortunate that i work for a company who could literally build a space ship if they wanted and all the tools to do it with... the rest is just imagination and some skill on how to weld and figure things out...

im a artist who oil paints and has been drawing vehicles on paper since elementary school... so i really want to build a vehicle that is a far stretch of the imagination and completely functional...

Allen_okc,
Tools? Hardware, software or both?
I have access to a machine shop. I can run a lathe / mill. I can weld too.

I fount this image, not sure how:
its probably not electric, but cool looking the same

GOD work is boring today.

This thread makes me laugh. I saw the video of the Tron bike and, though it looks really cool in an animation, when a guy is teetering around a parking lot with it, not so much... It also reminded me of this post I did a long time ago:

how to sell a motorcycle

the fantasy:

the reality:

sounds like you have the stuff - a CNC machine really helps, but not always the norm... for patterns, using cardboard is a good way to fit pieces, once you have the pattern, a good jig saw will work fine... foam insulation glued together then carved out to make forms with aluminum foil wrapped over it then fiberglass laid on top of it, generally one layer. remove from form after it dries then sand a add two to three more layers of fiberglass, a thin coat of bondo, sand, primer and paint, like i did for my RC drag truck...
