My favorite forum (elmoto) crashed the other day and I was hoping our V2 post was going to show back up, but alas it got lost to the evil internet gods never to return. Since I want this to be an on going ode to Gene's dream machine lets fire this post back up!

I am always up for a challenge and today I got confirmation that I will be building 2 Rockets at the same time. Monday is going to be a busy day of parts ordering and tube bending. I need to play catch-up and get this second bike to the same point as the first.

We got the bodywork today! Blue tape and cardboard worked wonders to hold it up for some pics.51265127512851295130

Sweet bodywork.

That is a very large (and very red) motor.

Love the bodywork. It reminds me of Dice's electrocutioner.

Is that an 8" motor? Never seen one that big in a bike.

We can drive a car with this motor so a ~540# bike will be fun.

We were going to put the 8" in it but I managed to stuff a 9" in between the frame rails, Bigger is better. lol

Will you have to use a jackshaft? Looks like fun!

@ Frank, I didn't want to but in order to get a happy balance it was necessary. We were still able to fit 12KwH of battery in without too much trouble and if we got real creative it could end up with 14KwH.

Wow, very nice. Have you decided on battery chemistry yet? What is that fairing from anyway? It looks like an lsr item.

Looks like a Busa LSR fairing to me

Yep for this particular race setup it is a 12kwh power pack. We can easily change that to 18-22kwh depending on power and energy requirements.

You guys are good! There is a rumor that these fairings saw some time in a wind tunnel at GM, don't know if it is entirely true but we really liked the looks and the vents up front are gonna help us keep that motor cool for the track.

I got an email with a link to this video today, I guess the wind tunnel rumor wasn't a rumor after all!

Just a couple of update pics, got the bodywork fitting a bit more solid and cut the holes for my frame sliders.51945195

Bodywork is now mounted a bit more solid with the dzus fasteners and next week we will be doing a few pictures with the rider that will be taking the V2 up Pikes Peak for 2014. Also the graphics guys came by to start the process for the wrap that will be going on the bike, hopefully I will have some renditions soon.5246
