We are a motorcycle and vehicle tech shop that has developed a patent pending design for an intelligent brake safety module to deal with the effects of engine braking, especially useful on electric vehicles. Check us out and let us know what you think: http://gearbrake.com/

Louisville, huh? Hello from Shelbyville.

This is a pretty good idea

I assume it is an accelerometer and a microprocessor so it would still work with a bike that has no gears, like most of our electric conversions.

It could be an easy way to have brake lights come on when using electric regen on elmotos.

Does the light stay solid until the bike picks up speed again? (accelerates forward) I am wondering if it can be used to eliminate the rear brake switch, I have a bike with aftermarket rearsets that has difficult positioning for the rear brake switch.

I just use one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-ATV-10x1-0mm-Hydraulic-Brake-Pressure-Switch-Light-Banjo-Bolt-New-/191567521468?hash=item2c9a5066bc&vxp=mtr#ht_2548wt_997

That's a cool little thing, and cheap too, but the bike I'm talking about has a mechanical drum brake. (it's not my Elmoto)

So if the gearbrake device keeps the light on until there is forward accel, it could be a simple solution, otherwise I have to futz with mounting a micro switch or something.
