How about a gentlemen's race at a track such as this:
http://www.nelsonledges.com/default.aspx

130 bucks buys you a day of time only type racing. very closely monitore for safety with short 25-30 minute track sessions.

Just an idea. (Of course this would be after next April due to the pleaseant weather in this neck of the woods. Giving people time to prepare also:)....)

Sounds like fun to me! Although I can't promise to be a gentleman, (or even be there).

I wish I could be there... would be cool to have an Enertia-class race.

Why couldnt we have one out here? There are definitely resources out here.

Maybe even piss off east coasters by having it on the same day!!! :D I know they did that with the Electric Dragin' a few years back while the Daytona Beach Burnout occurred... all in good fun.

Actually, that could be kinda cool if east and west coast had their events the same day. Then all of us meet back at the forums and chat about what we saw.

Hey Gene, wanna start an East/West battle Royale? Mono-e-mono....... bring it! Hehe

Another idea is to broadcast it (or them) live via Livestream (or ???) on here or some other centralized site.

I'm so happy that you guys are considering racing you f-in' rock.
personally id rather not do a time trials race. I really don't concern myself with times. Though it is a great indicator of how fast you go its not as fun. Its not racing unless your banging bars. ;D
If you guys are serious there are some safety issues that each rider should be aware of. Those things are safety wire ( you wouldn't want a caliper or axle bolt falling off at speed ) Apparel seriously look at a one piece race suit gauntlet style gloves boots and a composite helmet ( either fiberglass or carbon fiber ) helmets are not the same and DOT isn't intended for the track. Ill post other things if they come up and you guys should too.
We should look at different tracks and options too even though that track look fine. Who is gonna do the booking and logistics or are we planning to show up and who ever is there is there.

East coast, West coast. Makes no odds to me. I'm going to have to haul my bike down there anyway. I do have plenty of vacation time stacked up though.

Do they have something like that at infineon raceway in sonoma ca or laguna seca? Those are both near me. :)

Track typically have track days. Thats were an outside company rent the track then sells spots to riders. They typically go out in 15-30 minute sessions. The rates that ive seen are usually around $200 per rider per day. They usually have riding schools that are at similar prices on the same day in alternating sessions.

check the track websites the schools or track days are either on the links page or calender

If this starts coming together serious, get in touch with Clark at SpeedCastTV (http://speedcasttv.com/ ). They're a client of mine that does race webcasting in the midwest (if you watch the video on demand, I built the plugins that bring the leaderboards ant tickers on screen).

For west coast track days, check TheTrackMonkey.com

Damn RC. I wondered what happened to all the 6s 5000 mah packs when I went to order a little while ago. Though, that's exactly what I'd use if I had a budget to do a racing type bike.

Is there a way to plot out the locations of Elmoto members on a map to find a track nearest to the largest number of members.

After reading the page http://www.nelsonledges.com/GOTfunDays.aspx at http://www.nelsonledges.com/default.aspx it seems the " Fun DAY " is for sports cars. So is started looking around at track days and found http://www.nesba.com/Info/TrackEvents.htm. The track days aren't as cheap 7/16/2011 VIR - Patriot Alton, VA $125, BeaveRun Wampum, PA or VIR - South Alton, VA $165, 7/17/2011 NJMP-Lightning Millville, NJ $175 and there is a $75 Membership Fee http://www.nesba.com/Info/Member.htm. So $200-$250 is not that bad. Then there are other tracks and day so if you went some other time during the year at a track near you it would be one fee. It would be nice to figure out a date to plan and so we could put the word out to find other non elmoto racer/trackdayers and why not invite Brammo, Czysz, Zero, Mavizen......... What say ye boys.

I think it might be easier to throw out track locations and get a yay or nay. For the West coast I am going to nominate the San Fran area. I just sent a message to Inifineon for their info, which I will post once I get an answer.

I've got to vote close to home (FL) so I guess that's VIR.

I talked to Jerry Wheeler from Infineon last night, she said that unless the race is held during the week, every weekend from Feb to Dec is out. She is going to send me all the info anyways, but it sounds like Infineon is 100% out. Any other suggestions for the west side?

I won't be participating, but for the west coast I'll throw out laguna seca, streets of willow, or california speedway road course. Last and first option may be quite expensive.

DaveAK

I would imagine that any open day would likely be mid week, especially for the more well known tracks. Are there smaller community paved tracks? Even here in the back of beyond we have a race track, but it's dirt.

Thats why I mentioned VIR. I figured there were some EV guys down in the south. So would you go with your bike if we went to VIR. It would be great if at least a few guys pick one track so as to plan the logistics.
