  • Brammo, Mission, and Zero go head-head at REFUEL in preview of TTXGP next month

    Among the action at Sunday's REFUEL race was a match between Brammo and Mission Motors. (see REFUEL brings Tesla's and more to Laguna Seca for 3rd year of electric racing) The race was significant in part due to being the first public showing of the Mission R motorcycle, and the first race between that bike and Brammo's Empulse. They were to have competed last month at the TTXGP 2011 season opener but Mission was unable to compete. The REFUEL race gave us a chance to see both these bikes in action against each other, giving us a sense of what we'll see next month with the joint TTXGP/e-Power race at Laguna Seca.

      Here is an on-board video of the Mission R taking a lap of Laguna. I got a kick out of the title of the article: "Mission R: looks good, goes well, sounds terrible". I have to agree. My ears are still ringing after watching the video. See it here:

      Wow! That e-bike is a real kick. That builder really is getting a lot of performance out of a small, light, package. Very impressive.

      The details on the "Bicycle of Doom" in the reports are a little sketchy. It is actually a Golden Motor HPM5000 Brushless with a Kelly 120V 400A (KBL12401B) turned down to 78% max current, not an Agni. This combination was pretty good, but there were the usually Kelly issues, i.e spontaneous regeneration, and the occasional current control fault.
