" Well, you guys egged me on - I ordered one of the FET boards today (Aliexpress in this case, less than half the price of Banggood).
I'm still contemplating the resettable fuses, they seem to max out at 14A & 16V, which might be a bit close, especially on the voltage... "

Jimmy1234567 created the thread Converting pit bike to electric. Advice needed please.
" Hello ,
I want to convert the pit bike shown or similar to electric so that my 10 -11 year old son son can ride it without disturbing the neighbourhood. There are kids motorbikes out there for sale ready made but they are all too small for him and a bit "toyish".
The pit bike is not very large about 120 lbs without the engine and my son is not heavy and I have a few questions about the conversion.

1.) What sized motor wattage and voltage would be an ideal size to give it a good but safe turn of speed and make it perform well over cross country. I am thinking 36v 800w?

2.) Can I use a twist throttle and speed controller etc kit suitable for an electric bicycle or quad bike. Obviously for this wattage.

3.) If I keep the rear wheel exactly as it is would an ideal sprocket on the motor be 14 tooth or should it be less or more?
Thanks

joltron created the thread For Sale: 11Ah and 50Ah Altairnano LTO Cells.
" I have a surplus amount of Altairnano LTO cells.

Approx:

10,000 11Ah cells

1,000 50Ah cells

These are grade B surplus. I've been using them for pack builds and random projects. The majority are still packaged and wrapped on skids. I'd be looking to sell medium to large quantities and am open to price discussions/offers. From my understanding, these cells were produced by Kokam for Altairnano with their (Altairnano's) LTO chemistry.

I've attached images of the sheets for each cell. If you have any questions or would like me to send the full spec sheets please feel free to reach out. Thanks. "

Have you played with Arduinos at all? If not, I'd recommend getting one from someone reputable like Banggood (it'll run your bike, right?) and have a got at the tutorials in http://tronixstuff.com/tutorials/.
Thanks for the resources, I will order a couple to start tinkering. In the meanwhile I'll keep a close eye out on your prototype! I can't believe the prices of the components either. So the MOSFETs would be used for both the indicators and the fuse circuit? "

" Might know a guy. Now I'll see if he is serious about getting on board, or all talk. It's a good deal. If I wasn't married to some common sense, I'd buy it. "

" I'll chime in quickly to say that I really haven't made much progress on this lately (or my El-Moto either) I have taken on a much bigger project, and have been almost singlehandedly rebuilding a 130 year old farmhouse. We will have siding going on in the next couple of weeks, and our occupancy inspection is in 4 days. so soon it will be buttoned up, and I will have time to play again. I am spending my rare spare minutes arranging some shop space for this winter.

That said, I would be thrilled if others took this and tried to improve. My plan was to open source this software, so input is welcome!. I like the FET boards too, I haven't seen those breakout boards before. I had looked at solid state relays breakout boards, but they can only handle 2A where the FETs will take 30. I suppose I should order a few to check them out. The first unit will be going in my ICE Cafe Racer this winter, I will update with progress on that when it happens.

Cheers -A "

nedfunnell replied to the thread Putting together a GPR-S.
" So I modded my Prius to get a tap into the hybrid battery. This gives me 200-250VDC, which the meanwells are content to accept. (Most switch-mode power supplies are) Although it can source 21kW peak, I can only take 3kW from the pack continuously because that's all the gas engine puts back into it when charging. I could potentially draw 4kW for a just a little while, with the battery making up the extra current, but that wouldn't last long with the Prius' 1.3kW pack. However, a friend who saw my project and happened to have some Prius batteries sitting around is going to give those to me- maybe I can add a second battery to my Prius for additional charging possibilities.
