" You mean on that build? That's probably another thread, but there are some hotter new batteries I'd use, and a motor that I'd choose over an Emrax now, but I'm sure y'all know all about that stuff... "

" I just sent them an inquiry. I told them Ted Dillard sent me

Ted, that article is 3 years old, almost to the day... Can you update us with any new developments?
I ask because I want my next build to be a streetbike. I'm leaning towards a 2003-5 ish Honda VFR with saddlebag side cases. I figure you can fit alot of Li in those side cases! And they are easily removable. Like the BMW panniers. "

" Do they support Sevcon?

From what I saw, only Curtis at the moment, but that could have changed. "

It looks like a good starting point. I'm still researching this whole thing out. "

Duck-Stew replied to the thread First E-Moto project underway '10 Zero S rebuild.
" Couple of questions for the more enlightened among us:
1) If I use 13x Nissan Leaf cells, that would provide a more 80%-to-20% voltage of about 96vdc, yes? I want to make sure my thinking on this is correct.

2) Rear wheel: I've been looking around and due to the non-adjustable rear axle on the '10 Zero S and the 12.2" length from rear axle centerline to swingarm cross-brace, I'm leaning towards 16" wheels (same size as original, just want the reduced weight of those spokes & tubes gone). 17" tires are hard to come by less than 24.4" OD. The 16" wheels don't leave much in the way of available imported motorcycle wheels to choose from (domestic motorcycles and their parts are just too heavy to consider). So, that leads me to my question: Does anyone see a problem with running a 16" FRONT wheel on the back of my Zero? I'm reasoning that if I got a front wheel where the brake rotor bolts near the axle (instead of out on the spokes), that the hub would provide enough strength to use as the flange which powers the motorcycle.

To be clear, the FRONT wheel I'm considering for use on the REAR of my Zero is from a mid-90's Honda CBR900RR at 16"x3.5".

Another update: ME1507 will be the motor for the bike. "

" Hi
motor is mounted as fare back as possible - just a few mm for safty.
You are right, the swingarm goes right through the centerplates. Just like the original ice`s motor mount.
So for mounting the unit it will get slid onto the lower tube (the one with the yellow stops), then turned upwards and the swingarm slid through it and the upper bolts get attached.
Using all original mounting points as is.

No - i am not allowed to cut through the main axle, as it is there to serve for the whole lower frames integrity and on top the motor would not fit between those swingarm bearings anyway.

Looks something like the attached pic -the swingarm is not modelled accurately... what matters is just the fact that ,in real life there is a gap of just about 1,2 cm or so.
I do need some material in there to hold the motor as well.

" I see now how it supports the frame. I do think that your solution so far is very good. Is the motor mounted as close to the swingarm as possible? Am I mistaken or does the CAD show the swingarm tube going through the plates? I assume that is just a mistake, is it? The CAD is very good though.

What about removing the centre section of the swingarm tube and bracing the outer sections for the bearings so that the motor can move further back? Can you post a picture of the swingarm?

Well don't worry if it isn't a problem, I think you have an excellent solution so far. You just may get more battery space and/or less chain sag and noise. Could even use a belt drive.

Cheers

" Your pictures are not shown for me, but i thinking about same thing.

But Android tablet for 399$ is a lot to pay. Sony Tablet Z IP55 should work for you, but it is quite large.

There is two different guys on endless-sphere which builded Android apps for cycle analyst.

One builded Ebike analyser - it communicates with cycle analyst by BT.

https://endless-sphere.com/forums/vi...hp?f=2&t=59893

Other user builded more graphical one, but it communicates through Wifi and Esp2866, which not very common.
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/vi...hp?f=2&t=73777

For my latest build, I builded my dashboard myself with Arduino Mega, USB host shield and 3,2" TFTLCD.

Reason was my original Manzanita Micro RBD display not show all information i wanted.

My display shows voltage/current and so on and bargraph for all cells inkluding min max. When it powered off it is just black.

The problem with tablet is that you need to find way to turn it off and too start it up as soon you power your bike. If it continue to ne on people will se that you have a tablet installed and it may be stealed.

" HI
depends..
first off the swings- axle would be in place of that "thick" tube in the center pic just above the yellow brackets. It occupies aprox 5cm to each sides left and right and thus pushes the plates just a teeny little bit too far towards the center, aditionally to move the plates further apart would mean that on both upper atachement points the whole thing would simply "hang"from the bolts -not really stiffen the setup. Sort of like on the outer extremities of an coathanger.
Have a look at the pics attached. ( just changed colours to make more visible) (Looking from upper front backwards and down.)
