The BOLT pattern is the same. The ME1616 motor is quite a bit larger and heavier though. The diameter of the motor is larger.

Kelly specs are pretty optimistic in my experience, so maybe do some research to see what others say lately about that combo.

The me1115 (or even me1114 motor) is good, air cooled. They're the...

After having my project linger for a long time, and switching motor/batteries/etc from brushed to AC induction, etc. I think you should get it on the road. Yes, you can always upgrade, but if you get...

Still not so sure. Hybrids are not widespread, and I imagine it would take some tinkering but I think torque mode (as opposed to speed mode) is a the best choice for this integration.

That wasn't really what I was trying to say. You can have them tied to the same mechanical throttle.

But, I didn't recall from earlier, this is a sidecar. So no differential, but a different...

I would exersize caution from buying this mount, for now:

I purchased a motor mount that said it would fit Motenergy motors. I confirmed with them via email that it would fit the ME1507 motor. I...

Not necessarily true. If the controller is in torque mode, it shouldn't matter. You'd just need to mechanically tie in another throttle so you can control the motor controller. If you push the...

    HAHA!

I think we both the pro's and con's of both by now since we've discussed already. No need to do it over again :)

    Ted,
Absolutely it's because it's easier to bolt in a plate than it is to interface into the differential or create something to couple to the CV joints. Lots of people just keep it in one gear.

The Tesla Roadster originally had 2 gears, IIRC.

Most DIY electric car conversions have a transmission, although no other EV's from manufacturers seem to have one that I can find, except Brammo.

I still wear safety glasses and look away when I throw the switch the first time. Always good practice Ted. Something my Electrician father and grandfather taught me.

Great job Ted! That's pretty sweet. Old tech is still pretty awesome. It's amazing what advancing the timing does for a motor. The old series wound motors that were re-worked by Jim Husted back in...

Can you potentially put some thin aluminum sheet in between cells, so that they can act as a heatsink to pull heat out of the pack?

    Kokams are awesome cells!

I'd just make some clamps for the series connections, fold the tabs over and clamp. Might do some searching on the interwebs for kokam packs at DIYElectriccar.com.

I'm back now and want to see if I can spend some time looking at it. We might need a windows laptop or tablet we can use to log while you're running, so we can get some numbers.

Agreed, They may not be easy to get. This is why I bought the amount I did. I can only fit 32-36 in the kart. 32 are for a friend. The rest is spare/DIY Powerwall :)
