I finally got around to working on the new BMS (elite power solutions EMS). The easy ones, on 4-cell modules are done.

I've been installing the new Elite Power Solutions BMS. So far it looks like some nice hardware. The boards come in strings of 4. I had to modify a set for my main battery module, desoldering and then resoldering them back together in a string of 16.

They came colored black. I think it's liquid electrical tape - which I used to cover back over and it matched what was on there. It seems like a good idea to protect the PC boards from corroding, and it looks kinda cool.

Tonight I got the BMS installed and working.

New display is molded into the top of the tank. The button changes the screen to show cell voltages. There's a red ring around the button means the controller is on.

The BMS box is stuck to the front of the controller. Lights and small connector on the right is CAN bus to the charger. Gray Deutsch connector goes to the display and button on the tank.

New shunt with a custom cover. All the wiring has been neatened up. You can see the new BMS boards on the lower right - green lights show that they're on. Red lights come on when they're balancing.

Relays and contactor are nice and neat in a sealed box around back.

That's it for now - more to come later in the week...just in time for it to snow.

It has been LOOOOONG time since I had time to work on the bike. About 3 years, which happens to be the age of my son.

I finally got back to fitting the Leaf cells I bought a while back. I have the frame, motor, mounts, cells, and cell frame in Solidworks and cardboard.
