Put on 25 miles this morning...LOVE the LEAF cells, went down to a 12 tooth sprocket to bring the top speed down from 79 to 70 mph. The acceleration is MUCH stronger, will improve even more once I switch to the SPM72400! With the higher pack voltage and less voltage sag I'm using about 1 AH per mile. My 25 mile ride used 26.2 ah....with pretty aggressive driving (~85wh/m). I could put in the Alltrax today, but having too much fun riding after wrenching/welding for the last 3 weeks!

Didn't suck that I was able to sell my 24 Calb 40's for $130 in sets of 4. Guys snapped them up for 12v applications in 3-4 days. Leaf cells $1,300 - $800 Calb's = $500 for a BIG upgrade! I had about ~150 cycles on the CALBS....they still all tested 40AH or above after 4 years.

Interesting as I have a bunch of HP Headway batteries. Time to start load testing...

12V applications?... We did the same thing with some of the spare headways and turned a 12V 28lb Leaf lead acid into a 6 LB Headway.

    Our Current Bracket Racing leaf...

What year is your Leaf Ed? I'm thinking of buying a 2013. There's a dealer in North Jersey who buys them from Nissan off lease. Sells 2013 SV's with 20K miles or less for 11-12K! With Nav, Bose.

That one and our regular commuter leaf are 2012s.

For that price I would buy it. It will almost pay for itself in gas savings.

Going there tomorrow....he has 20, 2012 & 2013's coming in fresh off 2 & 3 year leases. I put 7, 230 watt panels on my roof over the last few years....as I recall so did you? I did grid tie but I think you were going battery bank charging?

Yup, We have a good chunk of the house off grid (like this computer I am responding on). I have BLUE plugs in the house to indicate solar juice.
We have been in the house watching TV and not known we had lost grid power. Got to love it.

Let us know how the LEAF shopping goes!

DRZ400, what current do you draw? I have a KTM 450SX with ME1004 motor, Kelly KD72500A controller, and the Calb SE40s. I can't get them any more. So I'm looking for a replacement. I need (or want) to keep my batterypack at 52lbs or close. I need the 400A under full acceleration, (I want more actually) . I ride most of the Moto tracks in So cal. Do the Leaf Cells give that kind of current. I am looking at the Headway 38120 because they have 10-15C power. But I just found the ECPC 20AH cells, which look like they can provide the amount of juice I need. My first motor melted, a ME0909 when I give it 400A at the track, so I could surely put 500A thru my ME1004 for a while.
I know this is a few years after your post, but maybe your still checking.

    Thanks

    Don

EValbum I don"t know the number but it's the only KTM 2008
