    Hello From UK....

A quick hello from Kent, UK - Have been planning my Conversion for a while, got loads of info from this site - thanks!
My conversion will be a Suzuki Bandit 600, hoping to pick it up this week and get stuck into removing the oily bits.
Still struggling to find suitable motors that are available in the UK, if anyone has any good sources that would be much appreciated......
Cells will be either Leaf or possibly Sinopoly, I have a local supplier for both.

I just hope I can build something even half as good as some of the bikes I've seen or here.... we'll see

    Cheers!

    Mike.

    Hi Mike,

I'm also in the UK, 100 miles north of you in Warwickshire. I'm just finishing building a 3.5kW e-bike. When that is wrapped up I'll build a motorbike. I had a similar plan to use a Bandit or Honda Hornet. Motor choice in the UK is limited. What are you thinking of using?

Looking forward to following your build.

    Thanks for the welcome's!
I did a 2Kw E-bike a few years ago - still have it and use it a lot - it's really hilly where I live and it's awesome!
I really don't have a 'Plan' as such for the motor / controller yet - it looks very much like it will have to be shipped in from the US though - unless anyone can advise of a better solution.... There was a thought of using the Golden Motor from China but have been warned off that for poor quality by a reputable EV Car Conversion specialist in the UK. Hopefully research will turn up something by the time I have the bike stripped.
    Cheers!
    Mike.

I need to make a motor shortlist when I've decided that sort of performance I want out of the bike.

I'd like to avoid shipping from the US due to freight and customs charges, but I'm not sure that it can be avoided.

OK - so slight change of plan! The bandit purchase didn't work out, but I have just purchased a 2000 Yamaha Fazer, which is being delivered on the weekend. Looking at using the Enertrac Liquid Cooled Hub Motor.
De Icing will begin just as soon as it arrives!
    Cheers,
    Mike.

You do change directions quickly... Congrats on the quick re-direct and the purchase of the new 'soon-to-be-formerly-fossil-fuel-powered' elmoto!

Very cool choice, looking forward to some pictures.
Current R1200RT, previously FZ1, HawkGT, Nighthawk 650, XS650. Loved every single one of them, now it's time for an electric bike!

Quick update - my Donor bike finally got delivered this Tuesday and is surprisingly better than expected (I hadn't seen it as it was over 150 miles away, but it was cheap enough so I took a chance).
Picture is as how it was delivered - I've so far spent a few hours in the last 2 evenings starting to strip it of bodywork and stuff I won't need - I should be ready for that smelly motor to come out this weekend.
Looks to be plenty of room for 14 Leaf Modules to go in there
    Cheers!
    Mike.
