    Leaf pack

    Hey all,

Just looking for some input. I have done probably the base amount of research. But this is semi-local and seemed like a steal.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/222147419465

I know you can't guarantee that all the cells would be good. But I was wondering if I planned on building two bikes max(60mph top speed and 40 mile capacity) my numbers say about 7kwh needed per bike. Would you think I could salvage enough cells to manage?

Also, it's probably a long term project and storage/balancing these cells if they're in an uninsulated/unheated shop over the winter in Michigan. Would that be a problem?

I know it's pretty basic questions. Apologies. Just wanted some veteran input. Thanks!

    Nate

    Ammadien,

I am not a Leaf expert, but the item pictured in that ad is NOT a Leaf traction battery. It is a Nissan Murano Hybrid battery.

My opinion is that the batteries could wait until you need them, especially if this is a long term project like mine was. You will end up finding a better deal down the road and they wont be sitting around not being used in the mean time, Just my 2 cents

    Stevo,

The 8 module pack you linked to is not the same pack. That is part of an early Leaf traction pack...pre-lizard chemistry. The modules look like this.

The later modules, with the improved chemistry, look like this.

I have no ideas what voltage or amp hour that Murano hybrid pack is.
