There's some CANopen variables that get loaded in the Sevcon, and then they're read by the display. Pretty easy setup on the EVIC from what I can see.

Interested in seeing what you come up with on your display/setup.

Travis, does it look like any of the code can be hacked and utilized with any LCD? Or is it proprietary?

It's proprietary not open source. There's little out there for canopen.

At these current prices I'd have to see what it does, how it looks, how configurable it is, and if it can be reverse engineered

When Lookie-Lous come up to check out your conversion in a public parking lot, one of the first places they spy is your dashboard. We should make them functional, but they should be impressive also!
In 2018 I am upgrading my electric dirtbike that I built with a ME1003/AXE7245 combo to a
    a ME1616/Sevcon gen4sz6 combo.

I wanted to start this thread on dashboard design also because this is where I need the most help. This will be such a huge and expensive upgrade, I want the dashboard to be as advanced as I can make it, within my abilities.
Right now, the dash consists of a Cycle Analyst, a key switch, an amber led turn indicator, and an aux fan switch.
Simple and basic, gets the job done.

I want to redo the entire dash assembly. I will probably keep the CycleAnalyst, but I would like to ditch the key switch and incorporate a small waterproof rugged tablet like this:https://www.walmart.com/ip/WinBridge...&wl13=&veh=sem
My thought was that the tablet could be the secure interface with the SevCon controller, as well as gps and/or other basic dash info like speedometer/odometer (although CycleAnalyst already does that). I hope somebody here on this forum can help me with ideas, experience, and how to's to get this configured and functional. Hopefully, this thread will become valuable to other forum members.
    Thank you in advance!
I just found this (while creeping) and I was having the exact same thoughts. I would love the ME1616 and a SEVcon gen4. I would more than likely have to get a few more nissan leaf cells for the higher voltage controller/motor but I think its worth it! Brushless seems so much better, with the higher RPM and Voltage, I could reduce my gearing (lol just got it all figured out) for more acceleration and a higher top speed. Plus, no brush maintenace! Look forward to reading more about your upgrade. You can be the guinea pig.

    LOL!
I've been working so much overtime at work, and the delay due to my welder crappin' out on me...
I am getting closer to wiring the Sevcon. I've got the 12v system all harnessed, I've got the sevcon chiller mounted,
the water pump and heat exchanger mounted.
I need to weld a couple new tabs on the frame to mount the new battbox and I still need to weld up the battbox.
I've been using my old battery to test the 12 volt system and get the UNO working. I've got the keyless start working with Virtuino and have the temp sensors working to monitor coolant temps and battery temps. I went ahead and heeded your advice and exchanged the solid state relay for a coil type mechanical relay.
I have all day Saturday to get some battery box welding done. I'm getting closer, believe it or not!

Cool, interested to see what happens.

I found this guy, done some amazing shit with the Sevcon, but not sure if it's a shared project.

Hopefully I will have time tonight to check into that link.
I elected to move the water pump from where I was originally going to mount it thinking it was too close to the sevcon. I was thinking that magnetic flux from the pump could interfere with the controller's functioning. I don't know how sensitive these are to that kind of interference. But I found a much better place to mount the pump. As it is, the controller will sit above the motor. I hope I dont need to build some kind of faraday cage or barrier between the sevcon and motor. Any thoughts on that? I really have no other place to mount the sevcon.
