The Sarolea Manx 7 electric motorcycle evolved from the company’s early Isle of Man TT Zero efforts. Efforts which eventually netted Robert Wilson an amazing 4th place finish in 2014 against other, much more well-funded racing efforts from the racing establishment. Now, Sarolea has an even bigger victory in mind: the 24 Hours of LeMans....

I've been posting about what I would consider the 'true test' for any EV in the ElMoto Dream Bike thread; and that is the amount of miles an EV could go in a set time with "refueling"....not just top speed, range, or how quickly it can recharge; but a factor of the three combined

    • right now the world record for any EV was set by a Tesla Model S in Germany, going 1506miles in 24hrs
    • but for any road vehicle, I think the highest mileage in 24hrs I can find was 3362 at Le Mans in 2010 by the Audi R15+ TDI
    • and for an ICE motorcycle, Carl Reese used up 6 tires on his BMW K1600GT last year to go 2026miles in under 24hrs

so, if this electric motorcycle does run, and even just averaged around 70mph(when factoring in stops) for the entire race...
....it could set a new record, not only for e-motorbikes, but for all EV's

hmmm...I guess last year someone 'showed' an EV at LeMans....but seems they are nowhere near to letting them race, yet

ACO, the sanctioning organization for Le Mans, is a strong supporter of innovation....It has a special category called Garage 56 that allows cars that do not meet all the current rules to race as experimental vehicles.

“We’re debuting it here at Le Mans because of this iconic race’s history where the brightest and most ambitious and tenacious competitors always push the motorsports and automotive boundaries,” said Panoz. “We pushed the boundaries when we brought Sparky [the 1998 Panoz Q9 GTR-1 Hybrid] and the DeltaWing to Le Mans, and we’ll do the same with the all-electric GT-EV.

Jack Perkowski, Green4U Technologies CEO and co-founder told the press in France, “Our goal is to run our car in a race, perhaps even applying for a future Garage 56 slot, and apply what we learn to our Green4U EV vehicle designs. The development of an all-electric race car that can compete with the best internal combustion engine race cars places Green4U at the forefront of electric vehicle technology.”
