Does Sevcon Gen 4 size 6 need a heatsink?

    Hi all,
I'm moving from my Kelly 8080 to a Sevcon Gen 4 Size 6.
Anyone running one without an additional heat sink?
I know it shouldn't burn out but I would like to avoid current limiting on the highway if possible.
    I'm running 96v On a ME0913.
    Thanks.

Yes it does. Or just something big and metal that can dissipate the heat.

On my 375lb R6 I ran without a heatsink. Average power was like 7kW, but I did pull peaks of 64kW too. I did have it attached to a ¼”thick piece of Alum. No thermal paste. Controller was on the bottom of the bike and exposed to direct airflow thou.

Very possible to run without one, but the system must be properly designed for it.

I made a water cooled one ...not the prettiest but it passed a 8 psi leakdown test. Now that I made one I know my next attempt will be better
