The dragbike is ready for its first test tomorrow. Not worried about any speed records,
just checking all of the systems, wires and temps before we fix all of the holes in the
    body and get it wrapped.

    Smokey burnout will be mandatory....

We did not get to test the Drag bike today due to the track closing because of excessive heat.

We will try again next weekend.

Today (with the help of Sir Travis) we set up a speed limiter for doing burnouts.

This motor/controller/battery combo has me a bit concerned that during a burnout, the motor could freewheel into oblivion.
I am not sure this would happen given the programming safeguards of the SEVCON, but I like to be safe plus
I do not need a 6000 rpm burnout.

All you need is too much water and a slick track and..... ouch.

We set up a second Drive profile with all the same info as the default minus 3000 RPM, changed a switch profile
from the Travis made wire cables that came with the purchase and (waa, laa?) a usable RPM limiter.

We will try again this weekend and see how this drag bike will run....we can't wait.

I've got a couple customers using this combo, with great results. One is in a kart. Can't wait to see more people using this motor/controller.

Haha, So is the Kart guy. He beat everyone on an autocross track by about 8 seconds. He's pushing it to the limit as much as he can.

We finally got to test the Drag Bike.

Everything went flawlessly. The bike ran a bit slower than we expected, but this a totally new combo for us. The burnouts were excellent and the local folks were impressed on how fast we were.

We had a great time (other than the heat!) and hope to be back to the track soon.

I sent the SEVCON file to the programming Guru, Travis, to do a quick review to see if we can tweek it a bit.

We have several options to get it moving down the track quicker and I will let you know what we do and how it changed the times.

We should have the body wrapped in the next couple weeks.

Follow up info from the Friday night test.

The Test & Tune was to see if all the work we did in design, build and programming worked. We had to redesign and build
the brakes as the bike did not come with them and since it was a custom frame all new stuff was needed. Not exactly off the shelf stuff.

We discovered that our 3000 rpm burnout limiter we designed was not enough. After some at the track reprogramming to 4500 RPM,
the burnouts even impressed the track crew. They announced the "electric motorcycle" just about every time we came up to make a pass.

Everything worked as designed. We discovered that we needed a different gear ratio. 3.8:1 was not going to cut it....too tall.

We will do a quick review of the programming and do some more lightening of the bike.

My favorite phrase in drag racing is... "Every ounce counts"
