Just got about $56K in backing for a grant application we got in last week. Takes up some of my spare time... like about 50 hours a week lol. Actually think we may find space and get it funded within a month or two. As my 24yr old son tells me, "one step at a time, Dad, one step at a time..."
I'd join up, but your on the wrong coast!

This is the coolest idea ever. I want to know if STEAM is nation-wide or just in MA. I'm going to do some investigating because this is exactly what Jacksonville needs.

That is one of the nicest CNC router tables that I've seen, it looks very sensibly designed. Many of the DIY tables are very "shade tree" in design and construction.

I made some copies of a radius gauge that is sold by several top people in the metalshaping trade. You can use it to capture a radius from a panel or for general layout work. They were well received as holiday gifts to some of my gearhead/DIY friends. It was pointed out to me that the flat end ought to be labeled as an infinite radius instead of 0, oh well . . .

    cheers,
    Michael

    Hi
it is actually very cost effective ( if you have a small cnc to produce it - like i did)
It set me back 5100 euro including all - servo motors psu spindle.. even software. A comparable prof. machine of same size ( 1,27m x and 0,55 y and 0,20 z) and stiffness would cost easy 7000. Without spindle or software and of course steppers only no servos... and its a great project in itsself and a great tool to have. Is not a toy - my toolmaker buddy helped to set it up and its accurate to about 0,06/7 mm on 1,25m , coupled with the integrated servos the repeatabilety is great.

ok a few favors had to be asked

    some vids for those intrested..

buddy has a printer, another one a plotter, neighbour is a pro car painter.. so we are well set up.

    greets
