Thanks ZoomSmith - glad to see you got more Headways. Looking forward to seeing how those work out.

By any chance, does those tank pads come in white?

Not sure - they're made by Tech Spec, their website is here.

Even though they look cool, I ended up taking them off the sides because they actually stick out about 1/4" and it's not as comfortable as the plain sides of the tank. Probably depends on the bike.

Yeah, that pobably depends on the bike.
Just chekced their site, no white pads, but they seem to have or have had a clear model.
I would just want to avoid scratching the paint when driving the bike on a daily basis..

You really have built an inspiring bike, I'm planning on removing the gas cap just like you did, gives a really slick look.

Thanks for the nice words. No gas - no gas cap!

There is another company called Stompgrip that makes a slightly different looking pad. Not sure what colors they have.

Personally, I went with the "denim" look...idea being that the flat black paint wears in as you ride, like a pair of jeans. Makes the bike personal, and also fits with the whole bobber thing I'm going for.

I just checked out the Stomgrip pads, they only come in a clear nubly texture. Like the anti-slip mats in public swiming halls.
Tech Spec's are much more slick.

What your saying about wearing the bike in reminds me of a bike I heard of a while ago, 40 years old, 1 owner, the paint and chrome had been worn through several places by being ridden so much. I'm trying to see if I can find that article.
If your gonna give the bike patina like that, you're gonna have to ride it hardcore for years.

I got a bug and had to put racing stripes on the GSX-E. They're clear coat over flat black, sanded and polished.

Here are some so-so pics in my garage. Hopefully will get some good outdoor lighting over the weekend.
