I read this article with a mix of fear and awe. We've been talking about messing around with 72 to 150 volts. I can't imagine handling 500,000 -- LIVE!

This article in the Washington Post talks about the "barehanding" technique the linemen use to repair high voltage lines.

Discover Channel show "World's Toughest Fixes" fits that bill. In fact they had an episode where they basically covered this (or possibly just similar elements...they definietely where using the "grounding pole", both from a bucket and from a helicopter).

Yep, the guys doing it from a bucket don't seem quite as daring as the helicopter crews.
