Anyone know of a site people sell these? Or am I better off trying to make my own? I ran across a site that sold conversion kits, but they are closed down now...oh, what I am looking for are vintage VESPA EVs...

The only one I know of selling already converted scooters is here:

http://www.saigonscootercentre.com/Ebretta_VTronic_Electric_Scooters.asp?idBasket=&idcat=&itemid=&p=&c_id=&s_id=

But you may find reputable businesses that are willing to convert one for you. There was a company in Seattle building some, but they are now focusing on building a pretty cool little scooter called the Fido.

Thanks for the website info! Do you have any info for the Seattle Scooter shop that are doing the Fidos?

http://fidomotors.com/ is the company now, and I think they have left Seattle.

The original company was Soundspeed scooters. You can Google them and learn a great deal. If you want to see a really impressive Vespa conversion, find the build thread on this site for Jim Delgado's (Headway Headquarters) PX150 Vespa. If he ever starts selling reproductions of his swingarm, several of us will be waiting in line.

On a related note, if you watch the Larry Crown movie, the one Lambretta in the movie is actually one of the Soundspeed electric conversions, but you have to look very closely to see the hub motor.

I've been riding a Motorino scooter since May 2011, they are not scooters, they are imported as bicycles so they can never be registered and insured as scooters. Don't do like me, don't waste your time and money. :)
