Chris, thanks a lot I am really happy with the fit and finish. There is a bit yet to do, I have blown the seals on one front fork (totally my stupid fault) and I have to get the 12 volt completed but I am hoping to have the whole thing going and registered by the end of January.

Just a couple of shots before I put on the chain and make sure it all goes still

    Updates and a new year

    Happy new year everyone!

Ok so it has been a while since I have sent any updates.
First the EV Festival went well. Lots of people, lots of questions and lots of fun.
However I was a little disappointed with the local paper's coverage.
On the day we had many very nice Electric motorcycles

Ripperton Race bike, my bike and Paul's Fazer conversion by Splinter, on Flickr
and they picked this bike to photograph and publish

Don't get me wrong this is a fun bike to ride but it was constructed on a weekend for fun on the dirt. Small DC motor and angle iron welded to the frame for some GBS batteries.

As for my bike build. After getting the whole shebang together for the Festival I was not really happy with the acceleration of the line. Working with Mark (Toolman2 on endless-sphere) we knew that Kelly had some new firmware to help run these high pole count, low inductance motors. So we approached Kelly and got a KHB72701 controller (72 volts 700 amps Opto-isolated) shipped with the experimental firmware. After a few days of messing about we got it setup and running under no load the losses were the same as the smaller controller.
However with the new controller we were able to set the throttle up to be VERY responsive.

Now we wired up a Cycle Analyst and took the bike for a ride with the Kelly set to a max of 50% phase and 50% battery amps.
My God was that FUN. This bike now pulls from the line like I have always expected it too. Tomorrow 70% and video.
