How to SPAD (Sketchup Photo Aided Design)

I wanted to build off of Ted's excellent PAD thread by describing how to use Sketchup to design a part from a photo.

First you need a photo. Follow Ted's instructions on getting a good image (he's the photo taking expert). I'm stealing his because it will link the threads nicely (and I'm lazy). Thanks Ted!

Then go get yourself Sketchup. It's free for "personal projects". What you're getting is Skethup "Make", which has nearly all the functionality of the paid "Pro" version. For commercial use, you should get Pro to adhere to their licensing.
