Really cool to see people run LEAF and Volt cells without a BMS and not have any problems.

Any figures on the C-rates you are pulling from the Volts? I know Chevy usually cools them, are you running into any heating issues?

    Sorry to hijack, but...
mcf12, would love to see how you packaged the LEAF modules on the Savage!

Don't have them in bike but thinking I'll stack six by two and slide em where the headway pack and BMHS were. Will be tight but mock ups look like they will fit. Terminals will be on the starboard side so gotta figure out how to cover

I have kept the Volt batteries to 200 amps output max and have no problem accelerating.

Why do you limit to 200amps (assuming you are limiting battery current at 200)? If I limit my controllers battery current to 250 amps vs 450 amps there's a BIG difference in acceleration.

I am a old drag racer and I tend to play with it too much. More power tends to get used..
It hauls very well with the 200 amps with very little voltage drop. I have a 600 amp controller so I
tend to get a true 200 amps to the motor all of the time.

The bike is light so it does not need too much to make it go fast.

Took the Cafe racer to work today. On the way home I had a new Dodge Challenger today running a nice sounding
exhaust and was intently following me. I gave a full throttle and saw him fade until he gave it some gas.
It was "humpin", but he never caught up until we both let off. (Told you I was an old drag racer)

I had to turn into my neighborhood a little bit after that. He waved and revved up the motor as he passed me.
I waved back... (A big smile in the helmet of course)

Only had 232 amps on the Max amps gauge.

    That was fun!

Ed! I didn't know you were on Elmoto!

    A couple of questions-

Are you using a Cycle Analyst?
You said you are only using the Kelly at, like, 60%, is that right?
Are you turning it up for drag?
If so, to what percent and what are you seeing as your peak amperage?

Thanks again for all your help with the Kelly stuff. I'm really glad I went with the 120v 600a model.

    Hey Joe!

Yup, been here since ELMOTO Version 1. (Longer than the Join date shows)

Glad you are enjoying the Kelly.

Are you using a Cycle Analyst? YES
You said you are only using the Kelly at, like, 60%, is that right? YES
Are you turning it up for drag? YES
If so, to what percent and what are you seeing as your peak amperage? 420 average.
With such a light bike the amps are going to be lower that the rated 600.

I made a gearing change for this weekends practice to get it the same speed as the LEAF. Should be fun!!
