are electric twist throttles crap?

It looks very strange with the angled (I dont know what to call it) housing.
This is my project bike, a 1999 Husqvarna SM610

I went with a cable-actuated throttle so I could keep the original CB controls on my old honda. It works great, although would like the return spring a bit stiffer. Took me forever to find this thing, but I knew someone had to be making it. Ended up finding it some random picture online and image searched the part.
