    Hi,
maybe i have to elaborate a little:
While driving i can see the TOP part of the chain (chain moving wheel to motor sproket) oscillating sometimes. Having never had a tensioner on any bike i wonder if a design meant to tension the lower part of the chain (from Motor back to wheel) would help with this too?

Getting one of these standard tensioners of ebay would be no problem... I still try to figure if this is enough to keep the top part of chain from oscillating..

    greets

    flo

Its normal for the top chain to slacken when you let off the acceleration, the bottom chain tightens.... the reverse happens when you accelerate and the top tightens while the bottom slackens.
The only reason I had put a tensioner on the top was because of the derailing issue I was having. I thought it was because of the extra length in chain required because this huge ME 1616 motor moved the drive sprocket further forward than the stock petrol engine. I believe I learned that it was because I was using too big of a drive sprocket. I liked the way the bike handled with the bigger front sprocket... I didn't feel so nervous breaking the rear tire loose... now I have to be more careful!!

Nice update and glad it's still running! Hope it's all running like a top and no big issues electrically.

I shoulda sent you more stickers

    Hi,
very well, that is the normal chain behaviour.
I did have to lengthen my chain too, but i see some, lets call it oscillation of the top part of chain ,while going a steady 52 kph. So its not a short whip like action but an ongoing vibe letting out a discerning grrr/brrr like noise. Obviously changing the speed cures it but still i would like to do something about it... just unnerving really especially as for driving silent...

    Hi Travis!
It runs fantastic. Very fast and reliable. A buddy rode it last week and got it sliding sideways in a turn … he had an oh shit moment!!
I still want to play with the regen, I just haven't had time to dive in yet. I might need to pick your brains a little bit to make sure I don't mess something up.

    I'm now riding eVOR_v3.4

New tires and a newly updated Arduino security power control system, and a newly upgraded dashboard with garage door opener!
This bike is scary fast because its so dammm heavy. If it could lose 60-80 lbs in battery weight, it could be a contender! It has the power band to be competitive for sure. eVOR is fat and needs to go on a diet!

Here is a video that I just finished... the part where I blow the doors off of 3 vehicles following a slow truck is hilarious!

    CAKE!
    Outstanding taste.

eVOR looks like the bike the War Boys needed to do the job right - BEAST!

    2 YEAR UPDATE !!

    Hello everyone...
Just a quick update after 2 years of almost daily use commuting to work (5 miles round trip)...
    2yupdate.jpg
    After 90 charge-discharge cycles and 2500 miles...
The delta between highest and lowest cells is only 0.031 volt at the bottom and 0.055 v at the top fresh off the charger.
I only had 2 minor problems since the last update, one of which was a real head scratcher. Intermittent electronic problems are a real PITA to locate!!
The first problem was about 6 months ago.
I noticed that my temp sensor on the negative terminal of the battery pack was getting abnormally hot during charging.
    temps.jpg
It usually never gets over 76-78 degrees F during the entire charge cycle. But for some reason I started to see temps in the upper 90's
I had to disassemble my left side battery box to re-tighten the negative cable terminal that had vibrated loose. It was barely loose, but I guess just enough to cause the heating issue. I never had any issue with the bike not running well.
It's definitely a good idea to strategically position some temp sensors at different locations in your battery pack!!
The second, very recent problem was that my headlights kept turning off on my ride home at midnight. This was completely intermittent, unrepeatable, and self correcting. I tried wiggling wires and harness connections, sometimes making the lights go off/on, or no effect at all. I re-wired the headlight harness, rebuilt the connectors and rechecked the entire 12 v circuit as well as the 100v side. The problem persisted even after going through all of the wiring with a fine toothed comb (and my multimeter)
I think the Sevcon DC-DC converter has an intermittent problem. The printing on the device states 80v to 13.4v .... So maybe it doesn't like the 20v overvoltage of my battery pack
I replaced it with a much lighter and smaller Vicor and have since had no more headlight issues

I suspect that these cells will easily last me a few more years until better batteries come our way
    Ciao!!
