Its normal for the top chain to slacken when you let off the acceleration, the bottom chain tightens.... the reverse happens when you accelerate and the top tightens while the bottom slackens.
The only reason I had put a tensioner on the top was because of the derailing issue I was having. I thought it was because of the extra length in chain required because this huge ME 1616 motor moved the drive sprocket further forward than the stock petrol engine. I believe I learned that it was because I was using too big of a drive sprocket. I liked the way the bike handled with the bigger front sprocket... I didn't feel so nervous breaking the rear tire loose... now I have to be more careful!!![]()
