    Electric airplane wars

Will lawsuits never end? Reading the attached article is making electric airplane development sound like more of a fertile field for investor money opportunities and technology-grabbing lawsuits against competitors, some of which appear to have no assets and likely only computer graphic YouTube videos of their proposed electric airplanes.

    Sounds like Tesla-Rivian2.0

Can ideas be patented, or only working concepts?
Open Source code can be copied all day long, and Microsoft hated that in the early days, but now they are benefiting from it and seem to be embracing it with open arms.
Maybe the whole patenting process is obsolete and is slowing down human ingenuity to a snail's crawl.

Patents cover 'intellectual property' so yes, Ideas basically.

Whoever had the idea first, and the bankroll to patent it, owns it - anyone infringing on that 'idea' becomes liable for royalties to the patent holder for the license to use of their idea.

One thing that isn't slowing down in the U.S. are lawsuits and lawyer commercials I am constantly hearing lawyer commercials on both the radio and TV. They all say the same thing: If you have been in an accident that was not your fault, come see us and we will tell you how much your case is worth. No doubt there are similar promotions aimed at the high tech industry that is trying to be innovative and creative while their competitors are looking closely at them to see if they can find something to sue them about and keep them from getting their product to market.
