Are there any weight savings by using copper windings vs magnets? Copper behaves similar to magnets when you pass them through a magnetic field, so I'm not sure of any advantages to using copper coils over magnets https://youtu.be/sENgdSF8ppA
As seen in this youtube video, when a coil is disconnected or LED placed in the circuit, the magnet passes through the copper winding easily. There may be an advantage there afterall.
The fact that permanent magnets have a built in "potential energy" is what makes electric
motors so much more efficient then ICE, along with fewer moving parts and less friction. The potential energy of
gasoline is what makes ICE so hard to beat.
