Toshiba has been doing this similarly with their CT scanners for years... The only difference between a 32 slice and 64 slice scanner is some computer software and memory, and a bump up in price!!
Revzilla has published an article that discusses Zero's (and other brands) latest Tesla-like upgrades that the owner needs to pay for in order to unlock features that are already installed in their 2022 models that use the Cyber+ operating system. I was fascinated to read that all you need to get heated grips on the new Zero models was a firmware download. Apparently, all the 2022 Zeros have heat panels molded into their grips, which can be turned on by just a over-the-air firmware download after paying the Cyber+ store for the firmware upgrade.![]()

I guess they aren't charging enough for their bikes to offer something that already exists as a standard feature. Its not like its costing them any more on the production side of things. This kind of corporate mentality will end up biting them in the ass in the long term, in my opinion.
